It's interesting to see how many different writers have all used the quotes from the Monday press conferences with Tim Tebow and Coach Meyer. But the conclusion is all basically the same; the real impact that Tebow has had while at Florida has been making philanthropy and concern for others cool and not just playing football.
What will mean the most?
"Probably the opportunity I had to influence people through football," Tebow said. "The memories that I have being with kids, being with the sick kids, making them smile, those will be even more special to me than even some of the games, some of the wins, the championships."
That might be Tebow's greatest legacy. He inspired teammates to a higher calling, to community service. They probably would have done it on their own sooner or later. It was in their hearts. No. 15 just helped show them where it was.
"The one thing about Tim is the selflessness and his mission outside of college football is unparalleled as far as I'm concerned, the impact he's made," Meyer said. "It's almost like selflessness is now a cool thing."
"I don't know what he did to make it cool, but he just told us he wanted us to come along and do this," Florida senior receiver David Nelson said.
@osgators LB Ryan Stamper says Tebow made going to church and philanthropic work a cool thing in the locker room.
