On Thursday, Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun speculated that Tebow's newly discovered nearsightedness could affect his ability to throw the long ball:
"I know what you’re thinking — how can he hit the deep pass if everything is a blur?"
On Friday's Game Time! with JC and the QB, a Gainesville radio sports show hosted by former Gator QB Shane Matthews, Dooley asked Matthews about Tebow's glasses and if it would affect his game. Below was their exchange:
Matthews: I was the same way. I was the same way, Pat. I wore glasses my Senior year. When we used to go to the movie as a team on Friday nights. I was supposed to wear [them] in class to see the chalkboard. But I have no concern. I have issues seeing things far away. So it's near sited...
Dooley: If you are Ernie Mills on that post pattern, so do you see the jersey? Is it a blur?...
Matthews: He's still a big dude. We're not color-blind. He's a big guy. We're not Vinny Testaverde, and I don't think Tebow is color-blind.
