Tebow's Eye Black for Tennessee?

As you can well imagine, we've gotten quite a few suggestions on what verses to post this week for the daily verse.

Almost all of them involve retribution, wrath, crushing defeat, and even slapping faces (Psalms 3:7).

But the single greatest suggestion has been Ezekiel 25:17 from Pulp Fiction (either that, or we share a large number of Dr. Saturday and TimTeblog fans. Thanks for stopping by by the way!)

But our favorite suggestion for Saturday's eye black is from Mark Conforti's PostMark blog. He noted that Tebow's eye black for the Troy game was from the lectionary reading last week, and suggests this week's lectionary reading for the Tennessee game:

James 3:13-14: Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

Not bad, a little smack mixed in with undeniable truth.
Not full of vengeance, wrath, and trash talk.

We like it!
