Philippines Typhoon: How you can help

As you all well know, the Philippines are near and dear to the hearts of the Tebow family. The Philippines have just sustained a devastating typhoon and are in need of help.

The following story is from the Winnipeg Press in Canada, but contributing to the Salvation Army relief support is the same wherever you are, in the States, Canada, Europe, or Asia.

WINNIPEG - The national office of the Salvation Army is asking for financial support for its relief efforts in the Philippines.

The Salvation Army in Canada is contributing $50,000 to cover emergency expenses and is asking Canadians for more funds.

Lt-Colonel Ron Clinch, the Salvation Army’s chief secretary of the Philippines Territory, said those suffering the most are the poor who lived in shanty towns along waterways.

"They never stood a chance and face the future with no support at all," Clinch said in prepared statement released today. "Thus the need for the Salvation Army to do all it can to help bring hope and relief to a desperate people."

Salvation Army teams are being mobilized to provide food, drinking water, blankets and medicine.

Financial contributions can be made by calling 1-800-725-2769 or via the website, www.SalvationArmy.ca. Donors should designate their contribution to the South Pacific and East Asia Relief Fund.

If you are in the States, you can donate at www.salvationarmyusa.org.

Or to the Salvation Army in the Philippines directly, here.

And please remember them in your prayers.
