Pierre-Louis said he was overwhelmed with joy when he heard that both of his parents are still alive and not seriously hurt.
“It was crazy. Better than winning a national championship,” he said.
“The house collapsed, but everybody made it out,” Pierre-Louis said Thursday from Gainesville, where he is training for an outside shot at the NFL.
The only family member who didn’t make it, Pierre-Louis said, was a 26-year-old cousin who was trapped inside a school building.
