Say a Prayer, or Two
We heard yesterday that Dwayne Schintzius has leukemia and has undergone a bone marrow transplant. We saw him play for the Gators and had the distinct pleasure of meeting him as kids at the old Skeeters on 13th St. He was the tallest person we had ever seen and he sported one mean mullet, known then as the "lobster."
He wasn't a hero in the traditional sense, but he helped lead Gator basketball to its first SEC title, and despite being and having a "bad boy" image, we still admired him for telling it like it is.
If you don't know about Dwayne Schintzius, Pat Dooley has an excellent write up about him here.
Say a prayer for Schintzius. Let's live up to what we sing on Saturdays, "in all kinds of weather we'll all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A."
In other sad news, Rajaan Bennett, an Atlanta high school student who signed to play football at Vandy this fall, was murdered in an apparent murder-suicide.
Please pray for his family, teammates, and community.
