Tebow spends down time visiting JAX teen

If you haven't heard the story of Alex Ross, you can here at the website dedicated to him along with a thank you written by Alex's mom.

In short, Ross is a teen shooting victim and Jacksonville native. The story update by Michael DiRocco is below:

Tim Tebow has spent the past two months training for the NFL Draft in Nashville, so the former Florida quarterback was glad to get home to Jacksonville on Friday.

But instead of kicking back and relaxing at his parents’ home, Tebow spent several hours at Brooks Rehabilitation Center visiting with Alex Ross, the 16-year-old who was shot by another teen in January.

“It was a very fun, special time,” Tebow said before his autograph signing at Palm Beach Autographs at the Avenues Mall. “He’s a kid who is very tough. He had to deal with unfortunate circumstances but he’s got so many people supporting him and praying for him and caring about him.”

According to the website Ross’ mother, Linda Dillard, maintains to provide updates on Ross’ condition, Tebow spent about two hours with Ross and his family. Dillard has posted several photos on the website (www.AlexRossUpdates.com) and posted a long blog entry thanking Tebow for visiting.

“You are awesome and you have no idea just exactly what you did for my handsome boy today,” the blog post reads. “If I could have given him anything in this world it would have been a visit from you. He has just been on top of the world since you left today and if I could just borrow you for two weeks we would have this Brooks Rehab thing licked and we would be running down the halls out of here.”

Tebow said he wanted to visit after numerous people told him about Ross while he was in Nashville.

“I was telling him and his family yesterday that we heard about him from seven totally different groups of people from all over the country,” Tebow said. “When I wasn’t even in the state of Florida we heard about Alex and everything that he was going through so first opportunity I had to get back in town I went to see him and just had a great afternoon with him. I enjoyed it and he’s a special kid.

“He’s got a lot of determination and perseverance and that’s something definitely inspired me.”
